Beyond AI Coding: A University Workshop Bridging AI Learning and Industry

It was a pleasure to lead “Beyond AI Coding: From AI Research to Autonomous AI Products,” a wonderful, highly interactive workshop at Simon Fraser University’s School.
More than 30 students joined us in person to explore how autonomous AI teams, long-running agents, memory management, and agent orchestration are reshaping software development and the future of work.
The session combined research-driven discussion with hands-on industry practice. Students used Ideavibes.ai to build their own AI products, asked thoughtful questions, shared valuable feedback, and joined our growing AI community.
Experiences like this show the value of connecting academic learning with real-world applications, helping students deepen their understanding of AI, develop practical skills, and prepare for a rapidly evolving professional landscape.
Thank you to SFU and all the students who made this such an engaging and rewarding experience.
